Ways To Efficiently GenerAte Buddies On Your Place Of Work

By George Dodson

As we leave home for work, we start to understand that work actually becomes our second home. We spend half of the day at work but there are those that actually spend more time working than being with their family. Working for extended hours can be quite tiresome and stressful but can be averted provided that you have friends you can socialize with. For some, having friends at work is not an important thing however they probably do not know what they are missing.

Having friends in the office or on your workplace provides you with a helping hand in case you got piled up with paper work or too much work. Furthermore, friends at work can give you healthy criticisms that can further enhance your skills and can help you achieve your goals. Friends in the office can also come in handy should you be in emotional. Lastly, friends in the office as well as on other places can inspire you to do more and to be more. The question remains however - what is the best way to make friends within your place of work? Listed below are the things you need to bear in mind to effectively make friends from people at your work place.

Make a good first impression

Among the best and simplest way to get to know other people and at the same time make them remember you. As you are introduced to other people or colleagues, try to give them that warm smile, firm handshake, humble approach and kind gestures. Having to do well in your first meeting will draw other people?s interest toward you which makes them think that you are approachable thus a friend material.

A part of this first step is remembering people's names as you are introduced. You can use this advantage when trying to approach them in the future.

Eat with the group

Lunch breaks are a perfect opportunity to initiate your task. If co-workers would invite you, be sure to go - never refuse as doing so would mean you are not interested in making friends. Lunch breaks are also the only hours at work where people can discuss on any topic freely and express or do pretty much anything they want. This is a chance for you to talk about yourself and the things that you have in common with your co-workers.

Try to be more open-minded

Unfortunately, not all people in the work neighborhood will be willing to take you in as a friend. For this, you will need to understand the situation and try to be open minded as much as possible. Instead of doing the negative thing like staying away from that person, try to find out what he or she dislikes about you and learn to eliminate, lessen or control it. Not only will you be able to deal with indifference at work but can make your sense of leadership as well as your ability to deal with negativity radiate.

Never rush it

Lastly, making real friends take time. Certainly you can make friends within the day but that should not be your foundation of a 'real' friendship. Although it shouldn?t take months or years before you actually make a friend. Do not rush it as friendships only happen naturally - just enjoy and stay true to yourself.
