Scary Makeovers With Cosmetic Color Contacts

By Paulette Short

Cosmetic color contacts are never as popular as they on Halloween. Maybe that's because lenses are used on that special holiday to create theatrics, set a tone and mood for a costume, and even change the whole personality of the costume. Not only are they used for Halloween, but also for other holidays, such as Christmas, and Thanksgiving, and generally to color coordinate seasonal clothing and special outfits.

They are non-prescription strength, meaning they do not change the way the eye sees objects. The only purpose of cosmetic lenses is to change the appearance of the eye. Though the lenses are colored, those wearing the cosmetic lenses do not see in other tints. All objects remain clear, while the appearance of the eye only changes.

Lenses come in a variety of styles, including solids that change eyes to hues of brown, blue, lavender, green, aqua, and hazel. These are perfect for changing eye hues when the perfect eye make-up for the brown suit being worn goes better with a different eye tone, or when the white and aqua shirt would have more effect with aqua lenses.

Parties are particularly fun events to wear these contacts as they provide an electric mood and a festive tone for wearing them. An array of colors are appropriate for color atmospheres depending on the theme of the party, the holiday or special occasion. Everything from greens, blues, and lavenders will do, as well as romantic topaz, depending on the occasion.

Other times, such as Spring or Summer might require a different approach, with lighter more natural tones to go with pastels, pinks, and hues of blue. They would also be perfect for business cookouts, pool parties, or even more greeting new customers. Fashion lenses range from fresh and clear, that would coordinate well with just a light and natural make-up glow, to a more romantic and dazzling topaz.

Other designer lenses that include theatrical effects, such as reds, yellows, whites, or stripes, add drama and effect to themed costumes. Halloween is a great time of year for designer lenses, and can add to the overall effect of a costume, especially one requiring a total makeover to achieve the look. This is especially true of those such as vampire, werewolf, dragon, zombie or tiger costumes.

A selection of colors unique and unusual are available for costuming, as are designs such as checkers, hearts, spiders and a wide selection of others. Almost any costume is available and almost any tone is possible. Some lenses are sold by eye doctors or eye centers, but few of them need doctor's appointments or examinations.

They are also available for purchase online and can be shipped worldwide. Because no prescription is required, an eye exam is generally not required with cosmetic color contacts. They are safe, convenient, and a stylish addition to any seasonal or holiday outfit. They are also affordable, and can be worn to accessorize almost any fashion ensemble with style, color, and pizazz.
